Brooklyn, NY- May 28th, 2008 - Green Spaces, a shared office space for green entrepreneurs, officially opened its first location on Wednesday, May 28th. Over 100 people attended the launch party of Green Spaces. Cocktails and organic hor’dourves were served while guests had a chance to view the rooftop garden and experience the history of the Metropolitan Exchange Bank building.
Initial clients include Sun One Solutions, a carbon trading company; Translate Media, an international translation company working with agencies such as the UN, and Green Links, the social networking site behind green drinks. Green Spaces will initially fill 25 spots in their downtown Brooklyn location and plans to open a Manhattan location in the fall.
The Space
Green Spaces opened their doors on the fifth floor of the Metropolitan Exchange Bank. The 45,000 square-foot building is already filled with socially responsible companies like Good News Broadcast, a media publication that features good news from domestic and international sources, and Earth Speaks, an organic fashion company. Al Atarra, owner of the building, also operates his building with a networking spirit. Similar to that of Green Spaces’ concept, he introduces people in the building to one another, encouraging connections and collaboration.
The beautiful, sunny loft space is furnished with recycled, vintage pieces from historical centers like Grand Central Station and the Museum of Natural History. The building, located in downtown Brooklyn near most major subway lines, features a shared stainless steel kitchen, a rooftop with a community garden, along with storage space for entrepreneurs biking to work.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: info@greenspacesny.com (917) 494-5041 Green Entrepreneurs Launch NEW Business for Like-Minded Environmental Leaders “Green Spaces,” a Workplace for Socially Conscious Entrepreneurs
New York, NY – February 13, 2008 – “It’s amazing what can happen when people connect and work with one another to do business,” says Jennie Nevin, Partner of Green Spaces.
“One major challenge of starting a company is getting an office space for just one person. Often times, it is a single individual who serves as the driving force of a new business,” says Charlie Kickham, Partner of Green Spaces, and Entrepreneur. “The other challenge is having other people to connect with and use as resources. Idea sharing is key.”
Green Spaces, which announced its launch on Tuesday, February 12th at Green Drinks NYC, is an eco-minded work space in downtown Manhattan. For just $395 to $695 a month, green entrepreneurs will be able to hit the ground running. They will have a desk, free wireless Internet, and a conference room area to call their own.
The vision for the company started when Nevin and Marissa Feinberg, Partner of Green Spaces and Partnership Development of DESIGN 21, started an interest group in May of 2007 called Green Business Leaders.
“We wanted to hold discussions in a casual setting to meet like-minded environmental business people,” says Feinberg. “Out of this group, Jennie, Charlie and I came up with the idea for Green Spaces. We recognized the need for a place where green entrepreneurs can connect.
“We want to give environmental entrepreneurs the same opportunity we had,” continues Nevin. “Through networking events and working in a green, idea-sharing environment, we want them to form partnerships and new businesses and make their dreams come to life just like ours are.”
Green Spaces is now a reality for Nevin, Kickham and Feinberg. The response has been positive and they anticipate filling roughly 50 work spaces in their first Manhattan location.
“When an entrepreneur joins Green Spaces, they’re not just becoming part of an office,” says Kickham. “They’re becoming part of a larger network. A network that serves as a home to a movement of leaders who care about the environment and want incorporate such social issues into their businesses and everyday lives.”
About Green Spaces The entrepreneurs of Green Spaces will enjoy an open loft in an environmentally minded office. In addition to office space, the participants will have the opportunity to make connections through Green Business Leaders, what has become an exclusive organization for nearly 100 environmental leaders in the New York community. In addition, entrepreneurs will have access to interns for their project research and work. To join Green Spaces, or learn more, e-mail info@greenspacesny.com or visit www.greenspacesny.com.
